For her Journalism 202 class, Washagan worked on an individual story assignment. This assignment revolved around race and gender based discrepancies in Madison’s music scene, and aimed to generate solutions by reaching out to members in the community.
This project helped Washagan focus on two of her greatest passions: equality in opportunity and music. Because of Washagan’s certificate in gender & women’s studies, and interest in political science courses at UW, creating access and inclusivity in all communities is of utmost importance to her.
As a journalist, Washagan hopes to provide platforms for peoples’ stories to be told, and to always focus on truth above all else.
